Olentangy Roofing

Learn a trade the way it was taught here: repairs first

Olentangy Roofing is three people and one metro, and it grows by adding a person, never a sales territory. If you like roofs and dislike knocking on strangers' doors after hailstorms, keep reading.

What it is like here

This company was founded on small repairs other crews turned down, so the work is diagnostic before it is physical: find where the water actually gets in, trace it, write it down, then fix it. Jobs are scheduled by a person who knows Columbus, not dispatched from a call center out of state. You sleep in your own bed every night. The far job is Newark or Lancaster, not another state after a storm, and storm chasing is simply not done here.

Roofer

Full-time. Two or more years of repair work, leaks and flashing especially, and the judgment to tell a homeowner a repair is not worth their money when it is not, even though a replacement is the bigger ticket. Clean driving record, your own hand tools (the specialty gear is provided), and comfort explaining your diagnosis to the customer, entry point and all, because here it always is. Saturdays rotate across the whole crew, Ryan included.

Apprentice

Full-time, no roof experience required, comfort with heights and with heights' paperwork absolutely required. You will start on the ground crew the way the owner did, learn tear-off and cleanup, then leak tracing, then repairs, trusted with real work as fast as you earn it. The founder still reviews hard cases most mornings; apprentices who ask good questions get an education money cannot buy elsewhere in this metro.

To apply

Write to [email protected] with the subject line Careers, and tell us about the hardest leak you ever tracked to its source, or the one that beat you and what it taught you. That story is the application. We read every one, and we answer every one.
